Laboratory Ultrasonic Cell Homogenizer & Emulsifier
A 20 kHz laboratory ultrasonic cell homogenizer and emulsifier that breaks down cell structures and mixes immiscible liquids — 100 to 2000 ml per batch, with a titanium alloy probe and integrated temperature monitoring.

Emulsify what will not mix, without a chemical additive
The laboratory ultrasonic cell homogenizer and emulsifier is mainly used for the mixing and emulsification of different volumes of materials. It rapidly and uniformly mixes one or more substances into another substance that they would not naturally dissolve into — water into oil, or oil into water — without adding an emulsifier.
It is widely used in the food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and chemical industries and in other fields, because the emulsification effect is far finer than mechanical stirring can reach. The device has no restrictions on the working environment, operates continuously and has a long service life.
A 20 kHz generator drives a titanium alloy probe directly in the sample, so the energy enters the liquid rather than the vessel. Processing volume is set by the probe you fit, from 100 ml in a beaker up to 2000 ml in a single kettle.
Six jobs from a single probe
The same generator and probe cover the whole preparation sequence, so a method developed on one sample transfers directly to the next — no second instrument, no change of consumable.
Rapidly and uniformly blends one substance into another that it would not naturally dissolve into.
Drives solvent into the cell so the target compound is released in minutes rather than hours.
Breaks agglomerates down and holds particles apart in suspension.
Produces stable oil-in-water and water-in-oil emulsions without a chemical emulsifier.
Collapses foam in the vessel so the working volume is not lost to bubbles.
Disrupts cells, tissue and particles down to the micron and sub-micron range.

Generator, probe and stand — matched before it ships
The ultrasound generator, the 20 kHz transducer, the horn and the probe are specified as one set. The frequency window and the amplitude reaching the liquid are therefore correct from the first run, and a replacement probe is made to the same drawing as the original.
- Generator with digital display and process timers
- 20 kHz transducer matched to the generator
- Titanium alloy probe, Φ3–10 mm through Φ40 mm
- Stand and clamp to hold the probe in the vessel
- Temperature probe and connection cable
Probes are consumable items, so they are held in stock and can be re-ordered by diameter alone.

Choose the volume
Set the batch volume to be processed in a single kettle, from 100 to 2000 ml.
Choose the probe
Pick Φ3–10, Φ16, Φ30 or Φ40 mm so the energy enters the whole sample.
Set the amplitude
Dial the amplitude between 10 and 120 µm to suit viscosity and cell type.
Build the method
Save power, time and temperature settings so the next run matches exactly.
Pick the probe for the volume, not the other way round

Four probe diameters cover the whole laboratory range
Probe diameter sets the working volume and the intensity that reaches the sample. A narrow probe concentrates energy into a small volume; a wide probe spreads it across a larger kettle. Matching the two is what makes a method reproducible.
Every probe is machined from titanium alloy because it is durable and chemically resistant, and it resists the cavitation that erodes softer metals. Amplitude is adjustable from 10 to 120 µm peak-to-peak, and handling covers homogenisation and dispersion, cell breakage, foaming and defoaming, and extraction.
For processes that run above 80 °C a high-temperature probe type is available as a custom build.
Titanium probes machined in our own workshop
The generator is built and tested on our own line and the probes are machined and tuned in the same plant, so a replacement probe is a stock item rather than a special order.

Where laboratories use an ultrasonic homogenizer
Our ultrasonic homogenizer can be used for emulsification, extraction, mixing, degassing and cleaning.
Because the energy is delivered directly into the liquid, the same instrument suits a biology bench, a formulation laboratory and a pilot kettle — the probe is changed rather than the machine.
Two examples from our own test laboratory are shown below: essential oil extraction from plant material, and a side-by-side comparison of tea extraction with and without ultrasound.

Questions buyers ask before ordering
Which probe diameter for my sample volume?
Probe diameter scales with volume; tell us your batch size and we will recommend the right tip.
Will sonication heat my sample?
Some heating is normal. For heat-sensitive samples use pulse mode or a jacketed flow cell.
Can it inactivate enzymes in juice?
Yes — ultrasound is used for enzyme inactivation and cell disruption in juice and other liquid food.
Does it work on E. coli and other pathogens?
Ultrasonic cavitation reduces bacteria including E. coli. We can run a test on your sample to confirm.
Send us a sample for a free homogenisation test
Tell us the volume, the material and the result you need and we will run a free process test, then recommend the probe diameter, amplitude and cycle time.
